NO MORE OUT OF BAND HAM HACKS! on High Split UHF radios and 900 Mhz radios with use of CPS 2.To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
It offers nothing more at this time other than to force one to lean a new programming language interface.Note that you will still need a 25 Khz band entitlement license for this CPS 2.0 and there are ways to possibly import/recover your licenses over to it.but good luck on that! I would not force my radio to this firmware version unless I have no choice. Motorola has tightened up security with this release for online access using radio management. It has less functionality than the previous CPS versions. In my personal opinion CPS 2.0 is very slow and different. You can still load your older codeplug with CPS 2.0 but with this latest firmware 2.10.you MUST use CPS 2.0 for ever and ever! Any device archives saved with CPS 2.0 can only be opened up with CPS 2.0 as it saves it with a new extension.
Those of you that do, will someday have no choice but to get familiar with CPS 2.0 because the factory will force update your radio to this new generation CPS if your radio gets repaired at any Motorola radio depot facility. You may want to strongly consider to NEVER use CPS 2.0 if you have no new radios under a current Motorola factory warranty plan. the subscribing radios will have to still be under a factory warranty or service package plan. Note that ONLY Gen 2 radios will be able to receive any future firmware updates past 2.10.
IP site remote programming and Bluetooth radio programming is NOT supported with this CPS 2.0
NO MORE drop and drag, or multiple instances of codeplugs in the same CPS session.you CAN copy paste from one CPS instance to another by opening up 2 windows of CPS 2.0 at the same time with different archives. The CPS 2.0 software has LESS application features than the older versions. If you don't like the CPS 2.0 software interface, you better NOT update to 2.10.
so its safe to use with older firmware and still go back to older CPS if you don't update the firmware.įirmware 2.10.has no new features for the any device specifically BUT its does have some enhancements and bug fixes from previous versions.
Only the firmware updating will force you to use the latest CPS 2.0. you will ONLY be able to use CPS 2.0 from there on out for the rest of its days! You will NEVER be able to use older CPS that device ever again! If you update your radio or repeater device to firmware ver 2.10. However note, if you save a codeplug in CPS 2.0 it can ONLY be opened up with CPS 2.0. You can use both legacy MotoTRBO CPS and CPS 2.0 to program or open any codeplug versions there is if you have both older CPS and CPS 2.0 installed. Its recommended you use CPS 16 for compatibility if you want the ability to continue to open all older archives with the very last firmware release of 2.09. This release will affect all Gen 2 devices (radios and repeaters) for all future firmware updates.ĬPS 2.0 is backwards compatible for now with older CPS generation codeplugs ONLY if you have a version of MotoTRBO CPS installed. Therefore you can continue to use the current version of CPS you have now with CPS 2,0.
When you install CPS 2.0, it will install a parallel directory that has no affect on older versions of CPS Installations. MotoTRBO CPS 16.0 is the very last of its kind as a week ago Motorola has now release a new generation of MotoTRBO CPS called CPS 2.0.
